Good interfaces leave room to think

Design · 1 min read

A screen can be easy to scan and still be difficult to use. The difference is often how many decisions it asks you to make.

One clear next step

When every action looks equally important, the interface hands its priorities to the reader. Give the primary action a clear place. Let secondary actions wait until they are useful.

Space does work

White space is not empty. It groups related ideas, separates choices, and creates a rhythm for reading. Before adding another border, try adding space.

Remove carefully

Minimalism is not hiding the controls people need. A label can be worth more than a beautiful icon. A visible explanation can prevent a costly mistake.

The aim is a shorter path from intention to outcome. Keep what helps people get there.
